Human growth and development is the primary goal of the 4-H shooting sports program. Shooting sports are an outstanding way to provide human growth and development opportunities. Introducing safe and responsible use of firearms and archery equipment opens valuable vocational and life long recreational education. Listed below are resources and program information for 4-H members and coaches to get started in the shooting sports program.

2026 Spring Oklahoma 4-H Mail-In Series
$10 per entry, per discipline, paid with an agency check only made payable to the Oklahoma 4-H Foundation (Non-Refundable). Your Extension office may have an earlier deadline. Please honor your Extension office deadline! Late entries will result in a $10 late fee per participant.

General Rules
- Registration must be completed via ZSuite and mailed with payment made to Oklahoma 4-H Foundation 293 Ag. Hall Stillwater, OK 74078
- All registration and participation for this mail-in series will be individual participation, no teams
- Participants must be enrolled in 4-H and be of the appropriate age for the discipline entered.

Major County 4-H Statewide Invitational Archery Contest Series
Compete in the Major County 4-H Archery Contest Series on Feb. 7, March 7 and April 25 at the Major County Fairgrounds in Fairview. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and contests start at 9:30 a.m. Participants must be Oklahoma 4-H'ers in active status and certified in their discipline. The entry fee is $10 per discipline per contest date. Awards will be given at each contest and overall for those who compete in all three dates. Registration is due the Monday before each contest.

4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Training
Certification Training for 4-H Adult Volunteers in the 4-H Shooting Sports Program
The 4-H Shooting Sports program is one of the largest 4-H programs in the nation. Community-based and family-oriented, it offers a diverse curriculum that not only helps young people develop good citizenship, personal responsibility, and leadership skills but also teaches shooting safety and gun owner responsibility. Leaders will be trained to help youth learn self-discipline, sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and an appreciation for the great outdoors.
- Date: March 28-29, 2026
- Location: OKC Gun Club in Arcadia, OK
- Cost: $100– Registration fee covers instructor manual, class materials, meals, snacks and insurance.
- Courses: Shotgun, Archery, Rifle/Pistol, Muzzleloader, Hunting Skills and Western Heritage
Registration fee must be paid online or to your County OSU Extension office by March 16, 2026.
Requirements: Shooting Sports Instructor training participants must be a certified 4-H volunteer in their home county. All adults serving as county coaches in any discipline or as the county coordinator of the 4-H Shooting Sports program must complete and pass the entire training in their discipline or as a coordinator and the Youth Development/Risk Management component. The instructor in each class reserves the right to NOT certify a person if he/she feels the candidate will not be a competent instructor or coordinator.
An Adult Medical Form 4 is required for each participant. We highly recommend you complete and/or update the Medical Health form in your ZSuite volunteer enrollment. If you choose not to complete the Medical Health form online, please download the form from the registration page in ZSuite. Once completed, upload the form to your registration.

4-H Slingshot Instructor Training
Certification Training for 4-H Adult Volunteers in the 4-H Slingshot Program

- Training Dates: March 7, 2026
- Location: ATV Safety Facility, Guthrie, OK
- Cost: $40, covers lunch, workshop supplies, and instructor expenses
Registration fee must be paid online by February 23, 2026.

Oklahoma 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassador Program
Oklahoma 4-H Shooting Sports is founded on Education with components of Recreation and Competition. In order to build on the Foundation of Education, Oklahoma 4-H Shooting Sports is accepting applications for a teen leadership opportunity through the Oklahoma 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassador Program. This program will accept applications from now until March 9, 2026, for youth in 9th-12th grade for the 2026-2027 school year.
